Ram v’ball team plays well at R-S tournament

Greene County varsity volleyball coach Donna Carhill trip to the Roland-Story tournament Sept. 26 “a pretty good night.”

The team entered the tournament seeded seventh and played second seed Carlisle in the first round. The Rams won in three with scores of 21-16, 21-23, 16-14. “We played well and didn’t let the second game loss affect us,” Carhill said.

The put the Rams in the top bracket to play Newton in the second round. “With no rest time in between matches, we lost the first game 15-21, but rallied from 15-20 and went on a seven point scoring run to with the second game 22-20,” Carhill said. The Rams lost the third game 6-15, with fatigue being a cause, the coach said.

The final match of the tournament was against South Hardin, a team the Rams lost to earlier in the season. The Rams lost the first game 18-21, but won the next two 21-17, 15-11.

Kenna Marquardt was 30 of 32 serving with five aces. She had 13 kills and 25 digs. Nadia Fisher was 30 of 34 with three aces, and had 28 kills. Hannah Stein was 29 of 30 serving.

Megan Durbin had 21 kills. Hannah Promes had 67 assists and 22 digs, and Emily Heupel had 24 digs.
